Products
Notes
- I mainly divide into cleansers, active ingredient based products, watery products, and oil-based products
- cleansers: water-based or oil-based (oil, balms, or cold creams)
- actives: vitamin C, vitamin A (retinoids), exfoliating acids that may be in watery or oil products too
- watery: toners (usually the thinnest), essence (watery with more targeted ingredients), ampoule/serum (watery but thicker with targeted “concentrated ingredients), gel moisturizer
- Even before this, if my face is damp from washing, I will pat in that water instead of towel drying. This takes maybe 2 mins, not too time consuming
- oily: emollient creams/moisturizers, balms, ointments, oils, petroleum
- if you have dry or dehydrated skin, hydrate with watery textures first, then seal in with moisturizer/oil so it doesn’t evaporate (trans-epidermal water loss/ TEWL)
- order: in general go from thinnest to thickest tecture
- oil cleanse→water cleanse→toner→treatment/active→moisturizer and/or sunscreen→(oil)
